The view of general society, towards Mental Health is broken, it needs fixing. It upsets me the comments of others. Bunny is not broken, they do not need fixing.
Myself, and others in our system do not need to be hidden away. Medication does not need to be taken to treat Bunny or to treat us. Bunny has Dissociative Identity Disorder, in my view they do not need medication forced upon them. They do not need medication to “shut us up”. We do not need to be silenced, in fact I know if that was the case, with Bunny, this would scare them. Not being able to hear us, not being able to see us, would scare them. Which would be counter productive.
We are not known to many. Only a few know of myself and know of others in our system. It is not that we are ashamed, or that we want to hide. It is more that we are concerned, of what others will think. There is still very much a stigma connected with Mental Health and I think, more so with Dissociative Identity Disorder. Though walls are slowly being torn down, there is still a lot of work to do.
Being an alter, living as one with Bunny with other alters in the mechanism that is Dissociative Identity Disorder, is a wonderful thing indeed.
I, we, are part of something bigger, SO much bigger.
