Q & A 2

Last updated: 04 March 2021 11:39am
Reason for update: Added more Q & A
One who updated: Kalif
-------------------------------

Q. What information is shared in your system? and who sees this information? How is this information shared?
A. Not all information is shared with all in our system. In our system, remember that every system is different, we have notes. These notes are colour coded, the name of the colour is also written on them, as some in our system are colour-blind. They use the "traffic light" system. Green notes are standard notes, that are left for those who front to read, these are non-urgent. Amber notes are notes, that are deemed necessary for others in our system to know, but not all. Red notes are deemed Urgent. It is information that all in our system should know. This way, those who do not front, are not given information that do not apply to them. For example, in the Green notes, there is information on how to work the television, the oven etc. There is no point in sharing such information with those who do not front, as this does not apply to them.

Q. Your system is very male dominant, is there a reason for this? Has Bunny ever felt like she should have been male?
A. Through talking with other systems, we have come to an understanding regarding this. The body has PCOS, one of the symptoms of that is increased testosterone in the body. It is thought that because of this, this is the reason why our system has a lot of males in it. To answer the second question, no, Bunny has never felt as if she should have been born male.

Q. A lot of you seem to have shared skills, yet other systems don't a lot of share skills. Why is this?
A. Firstly, every system is different. At the time of writing this, our system has been active for around 40 years. We have had a lot of time, to get things organised. Those who front have shared skills. For example, we can all cook, bake, and knit. We do have other shared skills, and some are better at the shared skills than others.

We are the Silent Ones

(written by an alter)

We are the Silent Ones
The Ones that do not Speak
The Ones that watch and observe
The Ones that have no need to say a Word

We are the Silent Ones
The Ones that do not Speak
The Ones that Protect
The Ones that have no need to say anything.

Dissociative Identity Disorder in Movies

(written by an alter)

It has come to the attention, of myself and that of other alters, that we have been shown in popular culture. It can be said that certain scenes in movies, for example The Matrix, one of the Pirates of the Caribbean and characters in Star Trek, are a representative of sorts, of those who have alters. It is those two movies that I am going to talk about.

First let us take The Matrix. In this movie, there is a character called Agent Smith (aka Smith). This character is shown as multiple beings of themselves. This aside, The Matrix, the what I, what we, believe to be the ethos of the movie, says Dissociative Identity Disorder. Let me explain. In The Matrix, the ethos of it, we believe, is that of one mind. The Hive Mind. With those being in The Matrix, those locked in it, being kept alive. All striving towards the one goal. Agent Smith, we believe is key to this role, they keep the momentum of The Matrix under control, as it were. That is what, in some respects, what our roles are like. I, we, those of our system, each have our own roles, but we strive towards a common goal.

Next, I want to talk about Pirates of The Caribbean: At World's End. There is a bit in the movie, that repeats itself quite often. The character Capt. Jack Sparrow sees multiple versions of himself. Each one is different, some have a different appearance. They interact with each other and with them. This, I, we believe is an example of alters. How they interact with each other, is how, I, we interact with each other. It is how Bunny interacts with us all.

Finally, I want to talk about Star Trek. We have recently watched some episodes that contain characters called The Borg. To myself, and other alters, this also says Dissociative Identity Disorder. The Borg, although all different, all work towards the same goal (similar to what I said above about The Matrix). But unlike The Matrix, we, are like The Borg. We are like them in the way that way protect Bunny. That is our main... objective? Also when new alters appear, or stop being dormant, an alter, or two will talk to them, to help them adjust. It can be a long process, but this varies. This too can be said, that it is similar to The Borg's assimilation process.

I, we, wouldn't think that the above is something who doesn't have this condition would notice. It is interesting how Mental Health issues creep into popular culture, often without being noticed.

Legion: for we are Many

(written by an alter)

Although Dissociative Identity Disorder is known for being one of the more complex mechanisms that the brain creates, for us who are part of it it is not complex.  It is how things have always been and how they continue to be. To put it simply, it is what it is.

In Bunny's Dissociative Identity Disorder mechanism, we are many. Hence the title of this post. Incidentally, it is part of one of our favourite quotes. We all are our own identity. Yet we are also part of our system.

Myself and others, we form an intricate support network for her. Situations are constantly monitored, if I, if we, feel that the author needs extra support, it is given. This can be anything from talking to them, to completely taking over and everything in between.

The Time Equation

One of the aspects of Dissociative Identity Disorder, is time. Or to be exact, lost time. Time can be lost for Bunny, from anything from a few minutes several times a day, to hours lost, sometimes days.

The best way to describe is, imagine you are working on a task, you think that half an hour has passed but it has been several hours. But you know what you were doing. This is similar to when Bunny has lost time. The important difference is, that Bunny has no recollection of what happened, during this lost time. Which is why it is called lost time.

Sometimes they are aware in the background of what is going on, but that is not a common occurrence.

Because of this lost time happening, Bunny has a really bad memory. Myself and others, often are aware when things are planned. So to make sure we all are reading from the same page so to speak, Bunny, myself and others write in her, our planner and various other methods.

Organisation is key for us.

The View of Society (Generalised)

The view of general society, towards Mental Health is broken, it needs fixing. It upsets me the comments of others. Bunny is not broken, they do not need fixing.

Myself, and others in our system do not need to be hidden away. Medication does not need to be taken to treat Bunny or to treat us. Bunny has Dissociative Identity Disorder, in my view they do not need medication forced upon them. They do not need medication to “shut us up”. We do not need to be silenced, in fact I know if that was the case, with Bunny, this would scare them. Not being able to hear us, not being able to see us, would scare them. Which would be counter productive.

We are not known to many. Only a few know of myself and know of others in our system. It is not that we are ashamed, or that we want to hide. It is more that we are concerned, of what others will think. There is still very much a stigma connected with Mental Health and I think, more so with Dissociative Identity Disorder. Though walls are slowly being torn down, there is still a lot of work to do.

Being an alter, living as one with Bunny with other alters in the mechanism that is Dissociative Identity Disorder, is a wonderful thing indeed.

I, we, are part of something bigger, SO much bigger.
